Long Weekend Review
February 12, 2021
While I had the best intentions of posting a video for Friday in Review, the universe had other plans and I’ve been under the weather and unpresentable for video 🤧. Check out some of the things that are keeping me entertained while hibernating over the weekend ⬇️
Things Worth Listening To
I’ve been thinking a lot about unintended consequences lately and so really appreciated this examination into Amazon’s employee safety record. Turns out you it’s pretty hard to be both “customer obsessed” and care about worker safety.
Even though my Current Obsession playlist is current at 266 songs long, I do sometimes get bored (I wonder, is the shuffle truly random? 🤔). Thankfully, I’m vibing with undercurrents these days.
Things Worth Watching
We can’t travel yet, but you *can* take a drive through some of the world’s greatest cities while listening to the local radio 😀
Things Worth Checking Out
In my ongoing quest to rid myself of all things Amazon, I discovered that Good Reads was bought by Amazon a few years back 😐 You can now find my at The StoryGraph, a great service to keep track of what you’re reading, choose your next book based on your mood, and get recommendations based on your reading preferences. And, they care about privacy.
Things Worth Quoting
Wintering brings about some of the most profound and insightful moments of our human experience and wisdom resides in those who have wintered. In our relentlessly busy contemporary world we are forever trying to defer the onset of winter. We don’t ever dare to feel it’s full bite, and we don’t dare to show the way but it ravages us. An occasional sharp wintering would do us good. We must stop believing that these times in our lives or somehow silly, a failure of nerve, a lack of willpower. We must stop trying to ignore them or dispose of them. They are real, and they are asking something of us. We must learn to invite the winter in. We may never choose the winter but we can choose how.

I love that link to take a drive in other cities while listening to local radio!
